Danielle Zimmerer age 31, considers herself a Colorado native. She is the mama to the best four-legged doggie she has ever known and she is currently planting her roots as deep as possible in Steamboat Springs. She follows her dreams, travels often, and creates art on the daily. She started her photography business in 2015 and since have photographed over 40 weddings and countless family sessions. Babysitting was her first job, and she is thrilled to be building relationships with families and watching little ones have adventures while in Steamboat Springs, CO.
Emily Heiner age 26, grew up in Steamboat Springs and has always loved the mountains. She received her Bachelor's in Applied Exercise Science from Azusa Pacific University and pursuing a Master's in Public Health. She is currently teaching preschool and is also a missionary in Uganda and runs a Non-Profit that brings skills training to low income children and single mothers.
Ashley Otterness age 21, grew up in Brandon FL. She moved to Steamboat Springs in winter of 2019 to work for the Kids Vacation Center on the mountain, and to experience all the town has to offer. She has experience with kids as young as 1 month old. In her off-time she enjoys white water rafting, reading and yoga.
Annmarie Blodgett age 30, grew up in Maine where she attended Providence College and studied Health Policy and Community Health. Most of her experiences since graduating has involved working with kids in an education setting. She has served multiple terms with AmeriCorps, worked at the middle school here in Steamboat, and now works at a local non-profit BookTrails that provides literacy education and outdoor experiences to children. In her free time, Annmarie is usually found playing in the mountains, reading, or spending time with friends.
Erin Swanson age 35, is a Colorado native and grew up in Longmont, Colorado. Erin has been in Steamboat Springs since February 2015. She is an ELL and Spanish teacher at the local high school. She has taught all grades including Kindergarten Spanish! Erin loves to read, ski, mountain bike, practice yoga and go to the hot springs. She also participates in Steamboat Dance Theatre and volunteers with local nonprofits. Erin has worked with children for many years and loves their creativity and imagination.
Jenni Gerard age 28, grew up in St. Louis and moved to Colorado where she graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in Environmental Design. Since college, she has followed her passion for adventure in the mountains, traveling and working seasonally as a rock climbing instructor and ski/snowboard instructor, both within the US and overseas. While climbing, splitboarding, running, and biking take up most of her free time, her love for kids has made childcare a consistent factor in all of Jenni’s travels. She has been privately babysitting since her teen years, nannied part-time and full-time, and worked in daycares, preschools and sleepaway camps. She has experience with infants through teenagers.
Kelsey Myhre age 28, grew up in Minneapolis MN, and completed both her Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science and Masters Degree in Secondary Science Education at the University of Iowa. Kelsey first started babysitting when she was 14, and since then she has continued to work with kids in a myriad of different roles, including teaching science both at home and abroad, as well as working as a raft guide, ski instructor, camp counselor, and a park ranger. She currently works as an EMT on Steamboat Ski Patrol, as well at UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center. In her free time, she volunteers with Routt County Search and Rescue, and loves to ski, climb, cook, read, and learn new things!
Heathre Naused age 44, has lived in Steamboat since 2003 and is a mom of two boys ages 10 and 11 years old. She has many years experience working with kiddos of all ages and also has extensive experience working with special needs kids with a wide range of disabilities. When she's not helping care for kiddos (hers or yours), she's running her own business, enjoys performing with the Steamboat Springs African Drum and Dance Ensemble, skiing, playing music, hiking, mountain biking or pretty much anything to do with local arts and culture and the outdoors.
Laura Scoggins age 29, was born and raised in southeastern Tennessee. Laura and her husband, Will, came to Steamboat with the intentions of spending one season, but fell in love with the town and have now spent many winters here. Laura works for the Kids Vacation Center on the Mountain. She has the gift of working with the little ones and enjoys their energy. In her off time, she enjoys skiing, snowmobiling and taking beach trips.
Lauren Hughes age 23, has lived in Colorado for the past five years. Originally raised in Albuquerque NM, she moved to pursue an undergraduate degree in Human Dimensions of Natural Resources at Colorado State University. Lauren loves all things outdoors whether it be hiking, skiing, rock climbing, backpacking, or traveling both in the United States and abroad. She has five years of experience working with children in the environmental education field and absolutely adores being able to go on adventures with little ones! In addition to outdoor exploration, Lauren loves to do yoga, read, cook, play her ukulele, and brew kombucha!
Taylor Vaughan age 29, has worked with kiddos of all ages since 2000. In Steamboat Taylor loves to ski and teach folks how to have fun on the hill. She also works with the Yampa Valley Autism Program. In the past Taylor has worked in wilderness therapy and international disaster response. She graduated from UNC Asheville with a degree in Health and Wellness Promotions and Spanish Literature. Taylor’s favorite part about working with children is how much she gets to learn from them.
